Oktober Fest

Here it is, the last day of fishing of the season has arrived… It had to be a memorable one so we went to big potential lake named Blue Sea near Maniwaki and to the South-West of Mont-Laurier.  In our last adventure to this lake, we had seen a lot of cruising bass in shallow water but it was lake trout time so we postponed our excitement to now!

We arrived early in the cold morning but thought it was better for our security to wait for the fog dispersal.  It was not the time to put security aside especially in this cold water condition.  After talking to the pro of this website, we decided to take our chances with spinnerbaits, crankbaits, X-Rap or any types of lures that make enough vibration.  These ones were really great because they were responsible of around 80% of the catch that day.  Despite the recommendations of Pat, Mathieu couldn’t forget his productive tube. Great decision for him because he took the biggest fish of the day…Nice one.

The morning wasn’t too good, we caught only 3 or 4 little bass but our tenacity brought us to a nice spot in the afternoon.  We fish a long dock and its perimeter in shallow water.  That was the most productive 10 minutes of my life. We caught about 10 fish right there in an area of 20 feet.  A good conclusion of that day should be to never give up no matter the adversity.  We kept doing good cast around even if our moral was down.  Just keep the bait wet and you never know, maybe the fish of a lifetime will be the next bite… Note: that was a catch and release day, all the fish were released in perfect condition.
