Fishing unattended

Background: July 5th, Sunny 24C (76F) Winds mild (7-10 Kms). 13:20 hrs

Location: Baie de Calumet on Deux Montages

Water Depth/Temperature: 6.8ft, 70.2F

Fisher: Rachel Fournier (amateur )

Fishing Technique: two hooks with live worms, sinker on bottom, 6lbs line. Leave the fishing line unattended while preparing food on a pontoon, while husband is fishing on the seat on the other side of the pontoon. Let fish swallow hook and when it takes off, let fish pull fishing line over the side of the pontoon railing. Let husband grab the fishing line in mid air before it hits the water and sink to oblivion. Then grab line from husband, adjust drag and haul it in (expecting pike or pickerel by weight and pulling strenght of fish). Get big surprise when finally the big "ugly" head of a 4.2lbs barbotte appears, biggest personal best for Rachel in the barbotte
category.

This method can be easily adopted by most fishermen/woman who multitask and
leave line unatended even for a few short minutes. Risky in terms of lost
fishing line if fish is over 4.2lbs.
