Fall Fatty!

Another solo musky hunt. the weather was fine, sunny  8 degrees a little breezy  with water temps around 48 degrees.

I started out in fairly shallow water and was marking bait fish immediately, after a few short  passes with no luck decided to try deeper water. I started a pass in 15-20 feet of water with a legend perch bait and had fish on the screen when , my line went out, then stopped ,then zzzzed out again, fish on!    it tugged and felt pretty heavy. After a couple of violent head shakes and thrashes i netted the fish, snapped some pics, then picked up jen and dave for a boat ride, but unfortunately  no more fishing for the day.

Surprisingly big

Trolling for musky brings us all over the lake: deep, shallow, weeds, rocks and even flat sandy bottom. These various structures also mean we encounter many species. We had been fishing for 4 hours with no luck had milked our usual spots enough and we're desperate for fish so we tried a completely new spot which seemed very bland for structure but presented lots of bait fish on screen. After trolling for only a few minutes fish on, but not for long. Probably just a "rip" a fish hit and let go immediately.. who knows.rods go back in and trolling conitnues. Not far after fish on again.. only this was not a musky.
