Around
the rocks
Rob
and Loic had decided it was about time to go out for walleye
this year on LOTM. So they made a pit stop to pick up some worms
however a bit too early and the stores wouldn't open for another
2 hours. Casting for Pike it is! First headed to quarry point,
the wind was blowing out of the north east at about 15km/h so
they decided to check out close spots before venturing too far.
Right around the rocks of quarry point the first hit of the
day on a black bucktail (picture
3).They kept going along the rocks to see what else was
hiding.. then it hit! WOW! it hit hard, but something wasn't
right. Very sharp tugs with what seemed like odd head shakes.
The St.Croix rod was bending and Loic could feel that it had
a bit more weight than the last pike. Another Pike? Musky?.....
just plain old fat catfish! It was hooked to the side of its
tail, which accounted for the weired fight, but around 8lbs
it in fact did have a bit more weight than the last pike.
Going
over the lighthouse to try for walleye this time (point aux
anglais). First two passes result in 2 little walleyes, nothing
worth keeping or braggin about. (picture

Casting
thumbs we're becoming eager to get at it again so Rob and Loic
head for "pig Island". Rob equips the orange X-rap
and on his first cast into the rocks with a twitching retreive.
A 3lb pike was waiting for it. (Picture

Overall,
quite an average day.. but always fun and relaxing!
